Can you confirm
1) you have the WSUS admin tool installed (just the client part of the install is sufficient)
2) you're running the tool under an elevated command prompt

WSUS appears to need elevated privileges on Server 2008 onwards in order to use the admin API.

v1.0.1 should resolve the issues across all the operating systems

I'm sorry, but it seems, the issue is still there - as you see the console is there in the back, it's win2008 R2 x64, fresh install, just set up wsus and wanted to use your tool for approval, repeatable every time I try to launch it. hey, there's still a problem, screenshot and details attached, looks like it can't find one of the referenced files.

.NET 4 is installed.

Would it be possible to know what dlls this requires ? I would copy them over to the same folder, as I think that might solve the problem.

It's essentially the same issue as before, except it's failing in my attempt to manually load the WSUS API.

The program attempts backward compatibility by detecting a failure to load the Windows Server 2012 RSAT version of the API, at which point it attempts to load the older WSUS3.1 SP2 version. I've just changed this code, but I won't be able to test it till later.

To confirm all it should need is:
WSUS 3 SP2 Admin Console or Windows Server 2012 RSAT.

if you goto your Windows\assembly folder you should see Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration in there. There may be 2 versions in there a 3.0 and 3.1 - I'm trying to hit V3.1.

Apologies this is taking time to resolve.

First of all - don't be sorry, you're trying to create a free app that would help other people, including me so I'm happy to help and/or wait a little bit until it's fully functional.

In the folder you're asking a about I found 2 components by this name, versions 3.1.6001.1 and 3.0.6000.273.
And .NET 4 is installed as well, as I said this is a fresh server I'm going to use for WSUS & WDS, all the updates are installed.

If you google 'CLR20r3' you'll find a couple topics with a similar problem and from what I see people usually solve it by copying over the missing file to the application folder. Maybe it's some permissions problem, seeing as the file you want to get to is in the Windows folder ?

Update to my post: I just tested it whit SmartApprove.exe v (Jan 28 2012) and it works in test mode. But i used the smartapprove.exe.config of the 1.0.2 versión. I will try to find in witch versión it crashes.
